Neil Umagiliya appointed BOC chief

Former Monetary Board member Neil Umagiliya has been appointed Chairman of State-owned banking giant, Bank of Ceylon (BOC) with effect from November 13, 2018.


In a filing to the Colombo Stock Exchange, BOC said the Finance and Economic Affairs Minister made the appointment in place of Ronald C. Perera, who tendered resignation from the BOC director board.


Umagiliya is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants, UK and a Member of the British Institute of Management.


He is presently a director of Dial Textile Industries Pvt. Ltd., Vijaya Kumaratunga Memorial Hospital and a member of the Sri Lankan German Business Council.


Previously he has held directorships in Lanka Salu Sala, Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) Sri Lanka.
