NDB Toastmasters Club emerged as the Encore 2017 drama competition winner recently.
Division J of Toastmasters International, District 82 initiated the second Inter Toastmasters Drama Competition in March 2017 with the participation of 10 groups representing nine Toastmasters Clubs in District 82.
The preliminary round consisted of 10 magnificent performances from Pinnacle Advanced Toastmasters Club, APIIT Toastmasters Club, HSBC Toastmasters Club, PLC Toastmasters Club, CIMA Toastmasters Club, SLIM Toastmasters Club, Lyceum Toastmasters Club, Dialog Toastmasters Club and NDB Toastmasters Club.
The distinguished panel of judges led by Shanuki De Alwis conducted a workshop for all the participants and it led to the selection of five teams for the grand finale of Encore 2017.
The performance by the NDB Toastmasters Club was highly appreciated by the panel of judges and the team was advanced to the final round along with the Pinnacle Advanced Toastmasters Club, APIIT Toastmasters Club, Lyceum Toastmasters Club and HSBC Toastmasters Club.
The NDB Toastmasters drama ‘Kauda Bole Alice’ was written and directed by TM Trevin Ludowyk of NDB Toastmasters Club. He was also the lead actor of the team and the drama was choreographed by TM Jinidu Padma Sri Bandara. The vibrant drama team consisted of TM Ushani Madawala, TM Kumudini Dissanayake, TM Chathuri Samarasinghe, TM Saranga Perera and TM Kavinda Dassanayake.
The well-rehearsed performance was unveiled in the grand finale of Encore 2017, after the diligent effort put together by the drama team and the support team, which consisted of TM Vaughn Ernst, TM Chathuranga Karunaratne and TM Tharindu De Silva.
The grand finale of Encore 2017 was held at the Namel Malini Punchi Theatre in Borella. All the performances of the five selected clubs were of very high standards. After a tough competition between the finalists, APIIT Toastmasters Club was selected as the first runner-up and the NDB Toastmasters Club marked an impressive win by securing all three main titles as the winner of Encore 2017, Best Actor (TM TrevinLudowyk) and Best Actress (TM Ushani Madawala).
The magnificent performance of the NDB Toastmasters Club was commended by the eminent panel of judges and the splendid audience presented on the day. The team was further appreciated by the leadership team and the senior management of NDB Bank for the tremendous achievement which again is evidence that the NDB Toastmasters are of diversified talents which spans across a
wide range.
