Millennium Project holds inaugural foresight analysis workshop

Asanga Abeyagoonasekera who was appointed as the Sri Lanka node chair by Millennium Project Washington, conducted his first workshop in Colombo on August 8th. 


Abeyagoonasekera said, “Unfortunately Sri Lanka does not invest much in foresight analysis, we only think of one administration to the other. Millennium Project posses the Global Futures Intelligence System which is a powerful tool to engage in futures study. Sri Lanka like other nations could also start a futures unit under head of State.”


 The introductory workshop was under the theme “Sri Lanka 2050: Foresight Analysis” with participation from the government and private sector. The workshop was held at “The Hive”, MAS Innovation Center. The workshop was conducted by  Asanga Abeyagoonasekera along with Dr.Chandra Embuldeniya 
and  Lasantha 


Wickremesooriya. The participants were divided into groups and discussed the implications of the topic of ‘One Belt One road’ initiative and its opportunities and challenges to Sri Lanka. Finally, the participants were connected to Puruesh Chaudhary, Chair of the Pakistan node. The Millennium Project operates in more than 
60 nations.
