Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and FinMin discuss trade, investment

A meeting between Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ahamad Zahid Hamidi who is in Sri Lanka on an official tour and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake was held at Hotel Taj Samudra Colombo yesterday.  During the meeting, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake told the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister that the Government of Sri Lankan has launched a long term development plan, and measures have been taken to give more opportunities for foreign investors under this long term development plan.


Responding to the Finance Minister, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahamad Zahid Hamidi said that he expects to coordinate top level Malaysian investors to exploit business opportunities in Sri Lanka. He also pointed out that Sri Lankan Government’s commitment to create a conducive environment for foreign investors is of paramount importance.
In addition to his Vice Prime Minister portfolio, Dr. Ahamad Zahid Hamidi holds the Home Affairs Ministry portfolio of Malaysia.
