MCB donates Rs. 1 mn to flood victims via trade association

In order to join hands with the Government of Pakistan’s relief activities for Sri Lanka flood affected, Pakistan’s leading bank Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB) presented a cheque of SL Rs. 1 million to the President of Sri Lanka – Pakistan Trade and Investment Association, Iftikhar Aziz in a ceremony held yesterday at the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj. Gen. (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain and officers of the High Commission were also present on the occasion. The High Commissioner expressed deep grief and sorrow to the Government of Sri Lanka over the loss of precious lives and the displacement of more than 400,000 people due to devastating floods.  The Government of Pakistan has already sent three cargo flights containing relief goods and one more flight is also expected. This is further continuation of Pakistan’s support to Sri Lanka during the difficult time, he added.


The Regional General Manager MCB, Asfar Nomani said that Pakistani community in Sri Lanka has always been standing with the people of Sri Lanka in the time of need. He stated that this was a token amount which the MCB extended for providing relief to Sri Lankan people.President Sri Lanka – Pakistan Trade and Investment Association, Iftikhar Aziz thanked the Government of Pakistan and the MCB for their support to the people of Sri Lanka in their difficult times. He thanked the members of the Association for their active support in the collection of funds for the flood relief.
