Japan and Sri Lanka will hold the Consultation on National Development Cooperation and the Economic Policy Dialogue today at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo.
These two meetings will be held as a follow up to the visit to Japan by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in October 2015, during which Prime Minister Abe and Wickremasinghe agreed upon a ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
The meetings will focus on ways to assist Sri Lanka’s national development plan and to promote trade and investment between Japan and Sri Lanka.
Japan will be represented by Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry Vice-Minister for International Affairs Hirofumi Katase, Ambassador of Japan Kenichi Suganuma and other senior officials of relevant ministries at these meetings, while Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy will represent Sri Lanka.
Secretaries and representatives from relevant Sri Lankan ministries and institutions are also expected to participate.
