Fanam sends first goats shipment to Maldives

Sri Lankan exporter Fanam International has executed the first shipment of goats to the Republic of Maldives, a statement by National Chambers of Exporters said. 


The consignment consisting of one buck and 05 does of the breed called Jamunapari was exported to the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture in the Maldives for the purpose of breeding and demonstration of Animal Farming.  


This was the first shipment from Sri Lanka of this nature according to the Sri Lanka Animal Quarantine and Inspection Service which comes under the Department of Animal Production and Health, states the company.  


The shipment was sent by Airfreight by the national carrier Sri Lankan Airlines. 
According to the Company, Dr. Abeygunawardena – Director of the Animal Breeding Division of the Department of Animal Product and Health, Peradeniya, has been pleased with this export to earn foreign exchange for 
the country. 


The Company has fulfilled its contract with hard work and commitment, and with the support of the concerned State Authorities complying with regulations for the shipment of Live Animals.  
The Company extends its thanks to the national carrier, officers of the Sri Lanka Customs and the Department of Animal products and Health for extending their support to effect the shipment. 
The company is getting ready to execute the next order of 10 heads (all does) of the same breed by airfreight during this month.
