Face Technologies-Metroplitan JV bags contract for E-Motoring project

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to award the contract for an E-Motoring project of the Department of Motor Traffic that will mainly facilitate online registration of vehicles to a joint venture of Face Technologies and Metropolitan. 


The project aims to deploy comprehensive ICT solutions at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) and Provincial Department of Motor Traffic (PDMT) to provide selective services in an efficient manner. 


One key aspect of the project is said to be the creation of a digital vehicle registry under DMT, which would be accessible to other relevant State agencies, such as the Police Department.

The contract will be awarded to Face Technologies-Metropolitan joint venture by the Transport and Civil Aviation Ministry in accordance with the recommendation of the Cabinet-appointed Standing Procurement Committee. 


Face Technologies is a South Africa-based company founded in 1993 that specializes in card technology and biometrics. Metroplitan is a leading Sri Lankan technology company which has large presence in the office automation business.
