The Fibre Cement Product Manufacturers’ Association (FCPMA) recently held a special seminar titled ‘Facts about the use of chrysotile asbestos cement roofing sheets’ at Sapphire Hotel Wellawatte.
The seminar, which was held for the members of the Institute of Drafting Technologists in Sri Lanka, was supported by its President Chandima Nallaperuma.
FCPMA Coordinator Anton Edema, Chrysotile Information Centre Sri Lanka Director Sunil Amarawansa, expert in occupational safety and health Dr. Wajira M. Palipane, Built Element Limited Production Manager cum Technical Services Manager Gamini Nanayakkarawasam, Sri Ramco Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd Vice President Marketing Tyrone Rudolph, Rhino Roofing Products Limited Marketing Manager Priyantha Jayasinghe and Rhino Roofing Products Limited Quality Assurance Manager Duminda Hettiarachchi attended the event on behalf of the FCPMA.
Valuable information on the chemical and physical properties of chrysotile fibre was shared with the audience by Edema while Dr. Palipana spoke on the safe use of chrysotile fibre. Nanayakkarawasam also spoke on the facts about chrysotile fibre used in Sri Lanka.
The audience engaged with the speakers positively and had many questions regarding the safe use of chrysotile roofing sheets, the global successful usage of chrysotile and the benefits of chrysotile roofing sheets.
