Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN) Private Limited, a subsidiary of Dialog Axiata PLC, yesterday said the company had been carrying out its business operations for the last two years pending a renewal of licence by the Telecommunication and Regulatory Authority of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).

Dialog Axiata PLC is a subsidiary of Axiata Group Berhad, a Malaysian government-linked company.

DBN said over the past 24 months it has diligently pursued renewal of the lincence, which had been in operation for a period of 20 years since 1995.

“The renewal of the said licence was approved by the licence issuing authority, namely the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka in or about January 2016, pursuant to following statutory processes applicable to the renewal of telecommunication licence.

Subsequent to the said TRCSL approval, DBN duly made payment of the licence renewal fees amounting to Rs.816.3 million on January 18, 2016, DBN said.
However, to-date the renewal licence is yet to be issued to DBN by the TRCSL.

DBN said it has been informed by the TRCSL that the renewal of licence has been submitted for the subject minister’s signature.

“As per the established practice, TRCSL has authorized DBN to provide the services postulated by the licence, pending the renewal of the licence,” DBN said.

DBN serves over 570,000 individuals and corporates providing multiple services including fixed telephony, hosted PABX offerings, broadband, internet leased lines, data communication, Internet Data Centre (IDC), converged ICT solutions, telecommunication infrastructure, transmission and backbone services.
