Chandima to be at next NCC ‘Meet the Minister’ programme

Petroleum Resources Development Minister Chandima Weerakkody will grace the ‘Meet the Minister’ programme as the guest minister for an interactive session with the business community   on Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the National Chamber Auditorium, No 450, D R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.


This programme, launched by the National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is to assist the members and the business community to get the current situation of the business environment, under the relevant ministry, its future plans, present activities and other related issues pertaining to 
that sector. 


This will be an opportunity for the business community to have a close interaction with the minister and other officials from the ministry. 
The institutions under the ministry are: Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat (PRDS) –  the PRDS is responsible for oil exploration in Sri Lanka and could look forward to drilling of oil in the near future, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) – CPC is carrying out all the commercial activities related to importing, refining,  distributing, retailing of petroleum products, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) – CPSTL is responsible for storage and distribution of Petroleum products, Polypto  Lanka – facilitates the conversion of waste plastic into petroleum fuel. 


The functions of the Petroleum Industries Ministry are: Responsible for oil exploration in Sri Lanka through the PRDS, carrying out activities to improve the fuel supply to match the demand of the country, facilitating the improvement of the efficiency of the refinery through state-of-the-art technology and facilitating the conversion of waste plastic into petroleum fuel.
