14 July 2016 12:00 am

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will conduct a seminar titled ‘Sharp Insights on the Economic Outlook - BREXIT + IMF + 2H 2016’, amidst a backdrop of an uncertain global economy, mixed views on the impact of Brexit and questions around how the International Monetary Fund (IMF) package would influence Sri Lanka’s macro trajectory.
The seminar to be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the chamber auditorium, starting at 9:00 a.m. will bring cutting-edge insights to understand how the latest developments in the economy will impact businesses.
The seminar will be addressed by Frontier Research Lead Economist and Senior Product Head Shiran Fernando, Softlogic Stockbrokers Chief Operating Officer and Head of Research Danushka Samarasinghe and Verite Research Senior Analyst and Head of Economics Subhashini Abeysinghe.
The trio will also take part in a panel discussion, which would be chaired by CCC Chief Economist Anushka Wijesinha.
The topics that will come under discussion are how the IMF programme would influence interest rates and tax policy, whether Brexit would impact Sri Lanka’s foreign borrowings, tourism and exports, what macro policy is likely to look like in the second half of 2016 and how all this means for the equities and sectors.
