Cabinet nod for proposal to allocate land for investors in industrial estates

The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a proposal to allocate 16 land plots in nine Industrial Estates under the Ministry Industries for investors to set up new industries.
Based on recommendations of the Project Evaluation Committees and Regional Industrial Services Committee of the Ministry, Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa this week sought Cabinet approval for it.

The nine Industrial Estates are: Nalanda Industrial park in Matale, Bata-Atha Industrial Estate in Hambantota, Karandeniya Industrial Estate in Galle, Udukawa Industrial Estate in Matara, Embilipitiya Industrial Estate, Kalutara Industrial Estate, Batticaloa Industrial Estate and Nawagampura Industrial Estate in Ampara. 


 The Government Information Department noted that the sixteen-land plots were given to investors on 35-year lease basis, however with no rights to transfer the land plots to third parties.
