CCC CEO speaks at Int’l Expert Forum on Climate Change

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) convened its first International Expert Forum on Climate Change in Seoul, Korea recently. Carbon Consulting Company (CCC)CEO Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne was among a distinguished panel of international speakers invited to share best practices. The objectives of the conference were to deliberate on policies, knowledge and research concerning development on climate change and sustainable development issues across the world, to share best practices and lessons learned in mainstreaming climate change development policies and to build and strengthen an expert network.

Chief Organiser of the Event Dr. Eunjung Kim remarked, “The Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) is a legislation pathfinder dedicated towards leading the Republic of Korea towards a brighter future and is the only government-funded research institute specialising in legislation. The KLRI convened its first International Expert Forum on Climate Change, in the wake of growing evidence of climate change and the increasing emphasis on worldwide action toward achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

We are privileged to have a diverse and experienced panel of speakers from Australia, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, India, Israel, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, as well as Korean experts, to enlighten us with their shared expertise and knowledge.

The KLRI is encouraged by the success of the conference and were pleased to have Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne, the CEO of Carbon Consulting Company from Sri Lanka as one of our distinguished participants, to speak about moving i n d u s t r y towar d S u s t a i n a b l e Development and outlining real world examples of corporate mitigation of carbon emissions.” She further added that the forum will serve as a good opportunity to enhance the level of understanding about the issues discussed and to exchange useful information among the participating countries. Commenting af ter the event, Wijeyeratne remarked, “I am honoured to have been invited to be part of such a monumental event, with the attendance of so many diverse international experts. It was in

acknowledgment of the great work done by the talented team at The Carbon Consulting Company that I was asked to make this key presentation on how industry can move toward greater facilitation of the Sustainable Development Goals. It was exciting to be alongside individuals from academia and industry and to share best practices and ideas which will make a real, positive impact on our environment as we present a united front against climate change.
