opening of the Airport Retail Shop
Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC, producer of some of the world’s finest teas, unveiled its new flagship store at the Transit Lounge, Bandaranaike International
Airport recently.
The new retail shop marks a new chapter in the company’s legacy of producing, marketing and exporting the finest teas in the world.
Present at the grand opening was the Chairman of BTE PLC, Dinesh Ambani, together with Jayampathi Molligoda - Chief Executive Officer, BTE PLC, Vijitha Liyanage - Chief Operating Officer, Bogawantalwa Tea Marketing (Pvt) Ltd., Chamari Wahalathanthri – Chief Financial Controller, Jayantha Ratwatte – Snr. Vice President – Marketing, Bogawantalawa Tea Marketing (Pvt) Ltd., Abhishek Ambani - Head of Procurement & Business Development, BTE PLC&BTM (Pvt) Ltd., and Sunil Rajapakse – Chief Internal Auditor, BTE PLC, along with other officers of the company, including Chandima Weerasinghe – Head of Local Marketing, Bogawantalawa Tea Marketing (Pvt) Ltd. Also present were officials of the Airport Civil Aviation Authority, and other invitees. Commenting on the newly opened store, Deputy Chairman, Lailth Ambani said: “The retail store at BIA marks a fresh direction for the brand. We have introduced a number of new products and special packaging designed to appeal to international buyers. The team at Bogawantalawa and our partners in this project have worked extremely hard to make it a success and we are justifiably proud with the finished product. Our concept was to recreate a ‘tea estate’ feel and give the customer a more organic experience when purchasing tea.” Among the new varieties on offer are Single Estate Teas from Bogawantalawa prestige estates (Norwood, Loinorn and Illukthenne), an wholly organic tea collection that includes both Black and Green tea varieties, flavoured organic teasusing natural flavours of Sri Lankan fruits, and an attractive gift pack range.
