The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) today filed a motion before Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya requesting security for BASL President BASL Upul Jayasuriya, who had complained of death threats.

The BASL said Mr. Jayasuriya was a primary witness having made several complaints on earlier occasions and thus should be provided with adequate safety and security.

The Magistrate issued notice on senior DIG Anura Sennayake to appear before court for an inquiry regarding the provision of security for Mr. Jayasuriya. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda and Farook Thajudeen)
