The Terrorist Investigation Department (TID) has arrested a former LTTE Sea Tiger Women’s Wing Leader Burugesu Pahiradiat the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while she was attempting to leave for France.

The woman was identified as the wife of one of former LTTE leaders Subramanium Jayaganeshan alias Saamiraj, who handled the financial and administrative affairs of the LTTE.

The TID said that preliminary investigations had revealed that Burugesu,41, had been allegedly leading the then women’s Sea Tiger Wing from 1997 to 2000.

The convicted was produced to the Aluthkade Magistrate Court. The TID are carrying out inquiries under a 72 hours detention order.
