Wimal’s health improves

The health condition of Minister Wimal Weerawansa has improved and the necessary medical attention is being provided to him, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Lakshman Hullugalle told Daily Mirror online.

 

Hullugalle added that directions have been received from President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa regarding the welfare of the Minister and that the he is been looked after well.    

 

Minister Wimal Weerawansa ended his three day fast Saturday night after President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited him and offered a glass of water outside the UN office. He was then driven away in an ambulance to the army hospital.

 

Weerawansa had earlier stated that he would not give up the fast until the UN Chief gave an assurance that the three member panel appointed regarding Sri Lanka was dissolved.

 

Meanwhile, Minister Wimal Weerawansa's 79 year old mother had passed away at the National Hospital in Colombo last night. (Daily Mirror online)
