Minister Wimal Weerawansa is acting in a play written by the Rajapaksa family and attempting to cover up their misdeeds, UNP Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a news conference today.

“He is accusing Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundere of messing up Sri Lanka’s economy without blaming President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who as the Minister of Finance and Planning is the person responsible for economic crisis in the country”.

“Till the recent Cabinet reshuffle the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment was under the purview of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Contrary to what the Central Banks says foreign investments in Sri Lanka has declined. The Investment part of the ministry has been taken away from Mr. Rajapaksa and given to Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena who was elevated as Minister of Investment Promotion. Once again the Rajapaksa family is trying to cover up their inability to manage the economy,” Mr. Attanayake added. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
