Will repatriate Lankans if necessary

Measures will be taken to repatriate any Sri Lankans in Japan if they request so and regular flights to Japan are now operational as the ground situation is being stabilized, Mr. Sarath Dissanayake, Director General Public Communications of the External Affaires Ministry told Daily Mirror online

Mr. Dissanayake stated that the Japanese officials were taking steps to bring the nuclear power plant situation under control and that Sri Lankans will be brought to Sri Lanka if they request so.

Further Mr. Dissanayake added that 280 Sri Lankans were repatriated last week and that a special plane to bring Lankans will be arranged if the necessity arises again.

The External Affaires Ministry and the Sri Lankan Mission in Japan are talking all steps to guarantees the safety of Sri Lankan in Japan, External Affaires Ministry sources said.  (Daily Mirror online)
