19 December 2011 07:53 pm

The UNP said yesterday that they would raise a question of privilege in Parliament today regarding the assault on the party’s MP for the Puttalam District
Palitha Range Bandara allegedly by Government MP Arundika Fernando outside the chamber of Parliament.

Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga said that this poses a serious threat to the safety of his MPs.

He said that he would bring it to the notice of the Speaker today. Also, Mr. Amaratunga said that the government did not allow the opposition to use the time allotted for them during the debate yesterday. (Kelum Bandara)
