External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris reasserted in Parliament today that Sri Lanka would not allow any international investigation into allegations of war crimes during the last stage of the war.

Making his remarks during the committee stage debate of his Ministry, the Minister said that Sri Lanka is a sovereign country, and therefore it is not bound to bow down to such external intervention at all.  He accused TNA leader R. Sampanthan of calling for international intervention in connection with this issue. (KB and YP)
