Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake today questioned why President Mahinda Rajapaksa was not taking any action if he had files on the illegal activities of government members.

President Rajapaksa, on Sunday said he had files on all who left the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) recently to join the main opposition but said he was not going to open them.

“Soon after the terrorism was defeated, the President said he would tackle and defeat corruption and bribery in the country. We like to ask the President what his intentions are if he is not taking action on the files that give details of corruption,” Mr. Dissanayake said.

He charged that it was in the nature of a leader of robber gang to protect his members.“A leader of a robber gang cannot survive without his members. That is why he keeps protecting them,” Mr. Dissanayake said.
