The annual revenue licence fees on all vehicle categories in the Western Province except for a few types will be increased from May 22, the Western Provincial Motor Traffic department said.

Accordingly, the licence fee hike will not be imposed on land vehicles, old vehicles with registration numbers of English letter A to Z and Sri Lanka Transport Board buses.

The increase in licence fees on petrol and diesel cars, ambulances and hearses will vary from Rs. 700  to 950 based on the vehicle weight classes while the fee increase on petrol and diesel dual purpose vehicles (Vans and Jeeps) will vary from Rs. 650 to 2700.

Licence fees on pecial purpose petrol and diesel lorries will increase from rs. 200 to 2,200.

Among the other revisions introduced are omni bus  permit  fees from Rs 110 to 150  per seat, motor coach from 275 to 500 , motorcycles  from Rs. 450 to 700, three wheelers  and motor tricycles  from Rs. 550 to 750.

Divisional secretariats in the Western Province will be notified about the revised fees, a spokesman for the Motor Traffic department said. (J.  Induruwage)
