Minister Mervyn Silva said he knew those who kept silent over the Weliweriya crisis and vowed to reveal their names if the need arose.

“No one came forward and spoke against this factory. They are afraid of wealthy people. It was me and Gampaha deputy mayor who took a stand against this factory and closed down it for two days after discussions with police and security forces. I know who kept silent over this issue and I will reveal their names if needed,” he said.

Addressing a function in Kelaniya Mr. Silva said if the Kelaniya people wanted him to he would remain there come what may.

“I will not leave Kelaniya and Gampaha. If Kelaniya people rejected me I will leave politics for good. If they want me no one can remove me. It was my mistake to resign from Kelaniya. I had to do it according to the situation. I will arrange an election through my Ministry so that Kelaniya people can decide whether they want me or not. I want to prove that I am not wrong,” he said.

The minister said it was he who gave the leadership to the Gampaha district during the last general election and the presidential election campaigns and went throughout the country as a speaker on the UPFA platform.(Ajith Siriwardana)
