Weapons recovered to be sent to Govt. Analyst

The CID today handed over to the Chief Magistrate Court several weapons that were recovered during the investigations into the killing of former Parliamentarian Baratha Lakshman Premachandra to be sent to the Government Analyst for examination.

OIC Merril Ranjan of the CID handed over two T 56 assault rifles, three 3.8 Revolvers, ten pistols, ten 9mm pistols and 41 live and used bullets.

The productions were recovered from the scene of the shooting at the Walpola Junction in Mulleriyawa last Saturday and the fire arms that were issued to the Security Personnel of slain Barath Lakshaman Premachandra and Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who was also injured by gun shots received on his head.

The CID sought the permission of Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna De Alwis to send the productions to the Government Analyst for his examination. (T. Farook Thajudeeen)
