Warrant on commissioner

The Colombo High Court today issued an arrest warrant on the Commissioner of Motor Traffic for failing to be present in court to give evidence in a case filed by the Bribery Commission.
The Commissioner of Moor Traffic was summoned by the High Court to be present in court today to give evidence in the trial for the prosecution in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate to Allegations of Bribery or Corruption alleging that the suspect Anura Chandrasiri, the computer operator cum Legal Officer of the Immigration and Emigration Department for earning Rs 4.4 million worth of cash and for possessing immovable properties worth Rs 1.5 million by unlawful sources.
The court issued summons to the Commissioner to be present in court yesterday to give evidence for the prosecution. However when the case was called the Commissioner was not present in court.
Thus High Court Judge Sunil Rajapakse issued a warrant to arrest the Commissioner and to produce in court immediately. Further inquiry fixed for November 8.
