Warrant on Cecile revalidated

The Mount Lavinia Court has revalidated the warrant that had been issued for the arrest of Cecilia Kothelawala over her involvement in the misappropriation of Rs.26 billion of depositors’ money of the Golden Key Credit Card Company.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the Mount Lavinia court today that despite a court order to sell the assets the Kalutara and Negombo branches of the Golden Key Credit Card Company had not sold its assets and some of the motorcycles of the branches are still being used by its employee.

At the hearing deputy Solicitor General Gihan Totewatte informed the Courts that investigations are being conducted now to apprehend V.R.Dharmasiri who is said to have misappropriated Rs. 78 million as he has left the recorded address of residence while the indicated amount of Rs.78 million is being audited. Also, it was disclosed to courts that already statements of 1,800 depositors have been recorded and that the assistance from International Police has been sought to apprehend Cecilia Kothelawala.
