Vocational training at Wijeweera’s hideout

The Attanayaka Walauwwa in Ulapane, Navapalitiya, the hideout of late JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera during the 1988 / 89 insurrection has been converted into a vocational and aesthetic training centre, the Youth Affairs Ministry said.

The vocational training institute at Attanayaka Walauwwa is expected to conduct courses on modeling, cooking, food processing and serving and electrical Engineering while the aesthetic training institute will train youth in the Kandy district on dancing, singing and music.

The Centre will be opened by Youth Affairs Minister Dulles Alahapperuma tomorrow.

The Attanayaka Walauwwa and the land were taken over by the government after Mr. Wijeweera’s demise.
