The Britain said that it hopes that the military presence in the North and East of Sri Lanka can move to resemble that in other parts of Sri Lanka.

British High Commissioner in Colombo John Rankin in a video on the Human Rights and Democracy (HRD) Annual Report released by the Foreign Office on 30 April this year and the human rights situation in Sri Lanka with reference to LLRC report, he said that … “the UK recognized that there will be normal military camps throughout the country as is the case even in the UK. We hope that the military presence in the North and East of the country can move to resemble that in other parts of Sri Lanka rather than the very large military presence which it continues to have at the moment in the Jaffna and the Wanni.”
