Democratic National Alliance (DNA) leader Sarath Fonseka commenting on the situation in Tamil Nadu said the Sri Lankan government also should take responsibility for the situation which had arisen between the two countries.

“We do not approve of the actions of this government. It had acted so that the diplomatic relationships and confidence of other countries, especially with India, were broken. We request other counties to look into this issue in a reasonable way considering the people of this country.

“We appreciate other countries talking about the perverse actions of this government like Human Rights violations but if an unfair accusation was directed as Tamil Nadu politicians claim, we say it is not fair either,” he said.

He also said he would believe that Indian government would take a wise decision considering the historical and long lasting relationships with two countries and said it was not fair for Tamil Nadu politicians to pressurise the Indian central government to act against Sri Lanka on the US resolution at the UNHRC.

Commenting on the attack on a Buddhist monk in Tamil Nadu he said it was a cowardice action and said he condemned it vehemently.
“We should not be aggressive on this scenario but should act patiently. Our government also should responsible for ensuring security of our people. Our people have to face this situation because of the perverse actions of this government,” he said. (Ajith Siriwardana, Olindi Jayasundara)
