A huge anti-Sri Lanka campaign has been activated, targeting the March 2014 UNHRC sessions in Geneva by local and global elements headed by the so-called ‘Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal’ (PPT) in Germany and the TNA, National Freedom Front  (NFP) leader and Constructions, Engineering Services,  Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said today.

Addressing the media at the party office at Battaramulla, Minister Weerawansa said the objective of the two anti-government entities was to keep the allegations of human rights violations alive and incite member countries to pass another resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC.

“The TNA has reportedly said there will be a struggle against the government if the incumbent governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri was not replaced with a civilian governor by March. This is a direct challenge to the authority of the President and to the state. Therefore, the NFP urges the government to take steps to introduce amendments to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution through the Parliamentary Select Committee and remove the threat posed by 13A,” Minister Weerawansa stressed.
