'Victims had died between 1986 and 1990'

Two reports have been received stating that the skeletons found in the mass grave in the Matale District Hospital premises were of persons killed between 1986 and 1990, Matale Magistrate and Additional District Judge Chaturika De Silva said yesterday (27).

He ordered that the police guard at the premises be withdrawn. Reports regarding the skeletons, sent by the Kelaniya University Post Graduate Archaeological Institute’s Prof. Raj Somadeva and Matale District Hospital’s Judicial Medical Officer Dr.Ajith Jayasena, had been submitted to court.

 The inquiry was postponed till May 8.
