Union Minister GK Vasan on Tuesday refused to support the demand of its ally, the DMK, for a referendum on a separate Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka and said the Congress was giving priority to rehabilitation and restoration of livelihood for the island Tamils.

Evading a direct reply to a question whether the revival of Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation by the DMK would hit its ties with the Congress, he said the Congress was doing its best for Lankan Tamils and the Centre had already supported UNHRC resolution. (Express News Service)
