Uva opposition leader remanded

Opposition leader of the Uva Provincial Council Upali Samaraweeera (UNP) was remanded today after he surrendered to the police over a shooting incident at Ambagasdowa last month.

A complaint had earlier been lodged claiming that the opposition leader of the Uva Provincial Council was allegedly involved in the shooting incident and death threats on a group of  UPFA supporters on Jan 26, 2010.
