Use the ‘come and see’ policy- Navy Chief

23 June 2013 08:35 am

Navy Commander Jayanath Colombage requested not to judge Sri Lanka’s commitment and decision to end violence through the Humanitarian Operation from thousands of miles away but use the ‘come and see’ policy to know what had really happened.

He made this comment addressing the participants of the Multinational Force Standing Operating Procedures (MNF SOP) Workshop 17 at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo on 21st June 2013. The workshop, held from 17th to 21st June, was attended by representatives from 16 countries.

The Commander also briefly touched upon the misery and agony the nation as a whole underwent and stated that the country today moves ahead in a peaceful environment. Such an environment, he stressed, had given the Nation to host events of such magnitude as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which is scheduled in November this year.

The Navy Chief also stated that the exchange of ideas among the foreign and local participants would have expanded their knowledge and understanding about multinational staff operations & SOPs which will enable better implementation of plans should the requirement arise. The exposure to write doctrinal & procedural components based on each other’s experiences would be one aspect that would benefit their organizations, he further stated.
