The United States and Australia are studying the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) report before responding to it.

The much awaited report highly publicized by the Ministry of External Affairs as a “home-grown solution” and a mechanism for reconciliation was tabled in parliament on Friday.

The US Embassy said the report was being studied by officials here and in Washington and that the State Department would post its response soon.

Meanwhile the Australian High Commission said the Australian government was studying the LLRC report carefully.

“We will assess the report and the follow-up action taken by the Sri Lankan government. Australia is keen for the Sri Lankan government to act on the report's recommendations so as to move forward on reconciliation,” a high level high commission official said. (Dianne Silva)
