DIG Anura Senanayake today assured to provide necessary security arrangements for the  Bar Association President Upul Jayasuriya.

He made this assurance before Colombo Chief Magistra’s Court, when the case pertaining to BASL president’s security came up for hearing.

The BASL President had requested for security after he alleged several individuals in motorcycles following him in Colombo.

Twenty-seven security officials in civilian clothing are to be part of the security measures taken by DIG Sennanayake. However, he said approval needed to be granted by the Secretary to the Ministry of Law and Order to provide personal security.

DIG Senanyake also informed the Colombo Chief magistrate today that he would no longer be looking into the investigation regarding the incident and DIG Gamini Navarathna would be taking his place. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda and Farook Thajudeen)
