UPFA regrets A’pura incident

The UPFA today expressed its remorse over difficulties faced by the A/L students who were disturbed by the noisy election campaign held in Anuradhapura while they were sitting the exam.

The incident which occurred last Saturday was blamed on former NCP Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake. Sequent to the incident the Elections Commissioner had asked the UPFA to take action against Mr. Dissanayake.

Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma at a news conference said his party would assure that such incidents would not happen in the future.
“As a responsible political party, the UPFA will ensure that such incidents will not occur in the future,” he said.

The minister said he appreciated the Elections Department and the police for their commitment towards the holding of a free and fair election. (Nishan Casseem)
