Video: UNP wary of NFF Uva moves

The United National Party (UNP) today charged that the NFF was running with the hound and hunting with the hare at the upcoming Uva Provincial Council elections.

Questioning the decision taken by the National Freedom Front (NFF) to contest in the Badulla District on its own while not doing so in the Moneragala District at the Provincial Council elections, the UNP said the NFF was trying to deceive the people.

“What is the rationale behind this ruse or double standard? Although the UPFA agreed with the NFF to alter the Constitution, the UPFA cannot be trusted. It should abolish the Executive Presidency prior to another Presidential election,” UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said.

He said the NFF had recently charged the government of not following a correct path to rule the country among many other allegations.

“It is the NFF which said the government was corrupt and not directing the country in the right path. Therefore the actions of the NFF are doubtful. It is hoodwinking the people,” he said. (Video and text by Lahiru Pothmulla)
