UNP to report to UNHRC

The main opposition United National Party said today (UNP) it would report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva if the government failed to arrest culprits who attacked its Leader Ranil Wickremasighe’s convoy in Balapitiya last Tuesday.

While condemning the attack the UNP alleged that UPFA MP Sajin Vass Gunewardene was responsible for the incident.

MP Wijayadasa Rajapaksatold a news conference said that Mr.Gunewardene was trying to gain political advantage from the incident.

A UNP delegation led by Mr.Wickremesinghe was confronted by a group of goons at Balapitiyalast Tuesday evening while they were visiting the houses of the fishermen who died at sea.(YP and LSP)
