The visit of the UNP MPs to the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport, Mattala ended with a commotion when a group of men confronted them when they were coming out of the airport premises after the visit.

UNP MP Eran Wickramaratne said the crowd approached them as they were getting into the bus.

The crowd who were alleged to have been under the influence of liquor had shouted at the MPs accusing them of trying to destabilize the country’s development.

They have also accused the MPs of painting a false picture about the airport by calling it a white elephant.

Kurunegala District MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha had replied the men that the MPs had never spoken bad about the airport.

He had also told them that the MPs had visited the airport following repeated requests made by the government. (Yohan Perera and Sarath Gamage)
