UNP-JHU to discuss draft constitution tomorrow

The main opposition United National Party (UNP) said today that it would start discussions with the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) tomorrow regarding the UNP’s proposed draft constitution.

“The JHU had requested a discussion with us regarding the draft constitution. We will also talk to other political parties.This will be the beginning,” UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said at a news conference.

Mr.Attanayake said the UNP had held discussions with various civil society organisations and had obtained their views on the draft constitution.

He said the UNP would discuss the draft constitution with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), government political parties and the clergy. (YP, LSP)
