UN Assistant Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Catherine Bragg will visit Sri Lanka on an official three day mission to meet the flood affected people, beginning Wednesday, the UN office told Daily Mirror online

This is the first visit of the Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator to Sri Lanka. She will be in Sri Lanka from the 19th to the 21st of January.

The purpose of Ms. Bragg’s mission is to highlight all humanitarian needs in Sri Lanka, and the United Nations ongoing commitment in providing humanitarian relief and assistance, and for advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable people, a UN statement said.

Ms. Bragg is also scheduled to meet representatives from the Government, donors, and aid agencies while in the island.

A Flash Appeal for emergency funds to respond to the Sri Lankan flood crisis will also be launched by the UN during her visit. (Daily Mirror online)
