UN selects cops

43 Sri Lankan police officers from various ranks were selected for peace keeping operations overseas with the United Nations  after the UN Selection Assistance Team (SAT) from New York visited Sri Lanka recently. The Selection Assistance Team conducted the relevant language, driving and firing examinations from the 27th to 30th September, SSP Maxi Proctor, Head of the Fraud Investigations Bureau (FIB) who coordinated the selections told Daily Mirror online.

The police personnel who have now been successfully selected will be posted in UN missions in countries such as Sudan, Timor and Haiti when the relevant vacancies arise.  (Daily Mirror online)
