Ultras trained in SL to target India: BJP

BJP leader L Ganesan on Saturday charged that Pakistan-backed extremists were being trained in Sri Lanka and would be infiltrated into India to execute terror attacks. He said the training was being carried out despite both Pakistan and Sri Lanka being aware of it.

Speaking to mediapersons, the BJP leader said, while the training programme of extremists in the island nation was well known, the weak Central government has been a mere spectator.

Pointing out that the recent bomb blasts in Chennai was a warning to the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the senior leader said the Lok Sabha election results, which would be declared on May 16, would be a fitting reply to the unmindful Congress-led Central government. “We (BJP) will never allow extremist activities in any form and a Modi-led BJP government would take tough action against terrorists activities,” cautioned Ganesan.

He said, the Lok Sabha election is not about dethroning Manmohan Singh and making Modi as the prime minister, but it is to bring in a change in the system that was put in place by the Congress government.

Meanwhile, he said he was saddened at the long wait for a mega alliance to be formed in Tamil Nadu. He said the alliance would also continue after the poll results are announced. He stressed that except for the present alliance, the BJP would never seek the support of any other political party.

“The party will win with absolute majority; it will secure at least 310 seats,” the senior leader insisted. On the activities of the Election Commission, Ganesan charged that the poll panel could not prevent money distribution as the officials were state government employees and had to work under the same government.

Ganesan also said a disciplinary committee has been probing the confusions that led to the disqualification of the party’s candidate in the Nilgiris.(Indian Express)
