Two suspects arrested over Wellampitiya shooting

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting at the venue of the propaganda meeting of the common opposition candidate in Kolonnawa early last morning, police said.

They said the suspects, residents of Wellampitiya and Rajagiriya, were arrested following investigations carried out by the Mirihana special election police unit.  

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said six others involved in the incident have been identified and they will be arrested soon.

One of the three vehicles used by the suspects in the attack has been recovered from Brandiyawatta area.
