Two SriLankan Airlines flights delayed

Two SriLankan Airlines flights to and from Heathrow Airport were delayed due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in London, airline sources said today.

Two flights namely UL509 which was due to depart from London at 1330hrs Sri Lanka time and UL510 due to depart from London at 2125hrs were cancelled.

According to the flight schedules another flight which is to leave for London today is also delayed according to the flight schedules.
 
London media today reported that the Heathrow Airport was operating a reduced flight service today as their is a forecast of heavy snow across most parts of the UK.
 
According to the news websites of other airports, including Gatwick, Manchester, Luton and Stansted, had issued warning of the risk of disruption but no reported cancellations as they battled to keep the runways clear of ice and snow.
 
However, several passengers on-board aircraft at Gatwick had complained of four-hour waits to get their aircraft de-iced before take-off.
 
Airlines are warning that the severe wintry conditions on the Continent are also having a knock-on effect on arrivals and departures in Britain. (Yohan Perera)
