Two schools closed due to Mumps

Spread of mumps among the school children in two schools in the Kalutara district has resulted in the closure two schools indefinitely from today.

 Chief Minister, Western Province Prasanna Ranatunga said he ordered the closure of Bombuwala Maha Vidyalaya and Bombuwala Junior School on the recommendation of the District Medical Officer of Health.

He said several students of the two schools were suffering from mumps and that two schools were closed to prevent the spread of the disease. He said the two schools will reopen in consultation with the District Medical Officer, when the situation was back to normal. (Sajeewa Wijeweera)
