Two Pakistani nationals sentenced

Two Pakistanis who pleaded guilty for smuggling heroin to Sri Lanka were sentenced to life imprisonment by Negombo High Court Judge Shiran Gunaratne.  They were charged with three counts and they pleaded guilty to all.

The accused Azis Raheem and Hashis Mohamed were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport on September 16, 2009 when one of them were in  possession 279.2 grams and the other 1641.1 grams of heroin.

They were indicted by the Attorney General for possessing, smuggling and engaging in drug trafficking. The accused pleaded guilty to all the charges. (W. Hubert Fernando)
